Writer's Block: Cooking Lessons

Who taught you how to cook?

View 500 Answers

I have always enjoyed cooking different meals and alot of experience has hepled me along the way:-

My mum worked full time when I was in high school so I'd come home and have to cook for my dad, brother and sister.

And then when I met my husband he introduced me to alot of different meals to cook too.

But I do think having a family has made me cook a variety of meals and has made me enjoy cooking that little bit more :D

Writer's Challenge #3 - Unexpected News!

I'm absolutely shocked with the passing of Heath Ledger :( I know he will missed by many people, but my heart goes out to his grieving family.  What they must be going through right now!!  And his baby girl Matilda Aww.  I am really blown away by this along with everyone else too.  It certainly was not a good day to get out of bed, cause as soon as I turned the tv on it was all over the news.  But anyways not much else to say but RIP Heath Ledger.  It's such a shame :(

 Hi guys :)

How is everyone?  It's Friday today and just doing a a couple loads of washing so I am washing free over the week-end.  I have to go to my in-laws tomorrow as it was my husband Brian's sister's (Kylee) birthday on the 8th and they are having a little get together with their friends and Brian's brother Anthony and his family.  So yes I have hers on the 8th and then Brian's on the 9th of January.  As you can tell I wrote "I have to go", not meaning it in the way of Brian ordering me to go, but the fact sometimes it feels like a chore.  Don't get me wrong at times it can be pleasant or more so "has" been pleasant in the past, but I feel the enjoyment has been taken out of it.  I'm not saying this as a way to bitch about my mother in law (that's not my style), but more of the point that I can put it down here and not have to throw it in Brian's face, everytime we have made arrangements to spend time with his family.  They are his parents and I'm very respectful when I have been in their company, but also there have been times where I have had to bite my tongue.  And there is definitely reasons behind me feeling this way where I have been made to feel incompotent, but it is too much of a detailed story to go into right now and I don't think it's a topic worth discussing.  I mean come on most of us have in-laws and I'm sure one time or another some of you have had run in's with them or haven't always seen eye to eye.  It's a "tale as old as time".  Thanks Angela Lansbury and beauty and the beast.

Anyways, it is another hot one here down under today and it is yucky.  I think the week-end is going to be a little more pleasant though so that will be good.  Some relief (yay!!)
I bought the girls a barbie doll each at the shops yesterday and a spare set of clothes and shoes for the dolls aswell.  And there I was thinking what a great idea to get the girls something to play with as they have been pretty good and tolerated the indoors since the weather has sucked!!  Yeah right, didn't I look the fool when they started arguing and Allie threw a whopper of a tantrum.  It was a case of mama having to step into the ring and break it up.  My girls get on pretty well at the best of times and do almost everything together, but when it comes to barbies or bratz dolls they start yelling and Allie loses the plot.  Ah girls, they are so cute to dress up and fix their hair but gees are they little bitches sometimes.  I was going to update you on Twin Peaks as I have watched a few more eps and the extras disc has provided some worthwhile info (well probably more for my enjoyment lol), but I might leave that for another day when I can be bothered.  Sorry peoples but I cannot think straight in the hot weather.  I'm sure that affects alot of you too.   And thank you all for the birthday wishes for Brian and the comments made on the girls photos.  It is very much appreciated and there will definitely be more photos to show you in the future.

I just heard on the tv that thunderstorms are heading our way here. Bring on the rain!!  Well that's about it for now so until next time..........

 Hi again :)

Well I need some time out so I'm going to post some pics I took the other day of the girls, quickly and I forgot to do it this morning.  I have even put one of me in there.  I'm not a photo person, but I thought I'd throw one in anyway.  I think they came out really well but some a little dark,  not to worry.  I'll let you know how today went either later tonight or tomorrow.  We didn't have as many people turn up as we thought so it wasn't as hectic.  Thank goodness for that.  Enjoy the photos peoples :)   Until next time.........................................

It's my husband Brian's birthday today.  So just a quick one for now.  I will try and post back later if I have time as we have family and friends dropping in throughout the day.  He has the day off work too so it will be lovely having him home today.   The girls are excited too.
I will fill you guys in on the highlights of today later.

Have a great day everyone :)

 Hello all:)

House duties came a calling yesterday so didn't really have much time to post (damn you housework!!!!)  Anyways it's Tuesday today and still smack bottom in the middle of school holidays.  I'm surprised to find that my girls Caitlyn (9) and Allie (4) have been pretty pleasant to live with, although Allie is itching to get back to kinder and see her friends (especially Tyson).  You know what I'm talking about Kerri!  Kerri is another one of my friends on live journal and is Tyson's mum.

Caitlyn has been such a good little girl helping me around the house and with grocery shopping.  She is becoming such a big girl and the time has just flown.  Caitlyn could care less about going back to school but  I know that she will be excited to get back to see her friends and begin the all big grade of 4!!  Wow grade 4 (I think to myself for a second), it was just like yesterday I brought her home from hospital.

And now the update on my Twin Peaks eps.  I'm getting through the episodes, very slowly indeed but based on what I've watched so far it has now taken a strange turn and I will update you on my thoughts of that when I come up to speed.  It's still very exciting though don't get me wrong but yeah just strange.  But that's exactly why I love David Lynch's work.

For the rest of the day I will be heading to the supermarket to buy mince for my lasagne that I'll be cooking for dinner. Yum!!  And it's my husband Brian's  birthday tomorrow so I want to get him a cake.   Mudcake probably cause I know he loves that and the kids do too :)

I'm really enjoying sharing my thoughts and letting you guys see the person I am.  This journal thing is going to be a lot of fun.

Until next time little ones............................................

Writer's Block: Your Personal Chef

If you could cook for one person, who would it be and what would you serve?

View 123 Answers

The one person I would cook for would be my husband and I would cook lasagne.  I know it's plain but he loves mine.  And he appreciates the food I cook.   I would like to say my girls but my eldest is fussy and my youngest eats like a sparrow.  No seriously she is terrible when it comes to dinnertimes, but then again she is  only 4 years old so her eating habits will improve over time.........................................I hope!

My daily journal

A quick one tonight. Well what a day. Washing, washing, washing and more washing!! I was beginning to think it wouldn't end!! I picked up the girls Christmas photos with santa today and they look great. I can't believe it's Christmas Eve tomorrow and so much to do still. I have a house to clean and food to organise. Do you ever get the feeling there just isn't enough time in the day with everything that has to be done? This year has gone by so fast. Oh well time to hit "you tube" and have a good laugh.

Writer's Block: Winter Food & Drink

How do your eating/cooking habits change in the winter?

View 66 Answers

I eat alot of salads fish and chicken during the warmer weather but when winter rolls around it's definitely more casseroles.  They are hassle free when preparing.  I put everything into the one dish and cook it in the oven for about an hour and stir it once or twice.  The kids and hubby love it too.
